We’ve been blessed to be able to bring our own vision and style into each of the homes that we’ve lived in. This is our latest and hopefully longer term home that we purchased in late 2022.
Though most visitors would, and did, get overwhelmed by the outdated wall paper, flooring, and general condition of the home, my wife could see past what was there and into what could be.
We approached the remodel with a very intentional budget that gave us a chance to tackle the bigger items now while buying us some time on other larger investments like redoing the bathrooms and fully updating the kitchen.
Instead, we saw the opportunity to keep and update the existing kitchen cabinets and refresh both bathrooms. For the kitchen, we did some minor modifications to add a gas stove and saved ourselves $12-$15K on new cabinets by instead given them new life with some paint, new hardware and new countertops.
Similarly, in the bathrooms, we would have loved to have ripped them down to the studs and started fresh, but our budget dictated that we apply a more measured approach. Rather than replace the old tub and surrounds, we opted to re-enamel them to give them a completely fresh look while saving our budget. This strategy gave us the opportunity to refresh both bathrooms for just under $7K instead of spending the $12K/bathroom that it would have otherwise cost.
There’s many other tips that we can offer to help you make some budget friendly updates including connecting you to our trusted network of contractors that helped us complete this entire refresh in under 4 weeks start to finish!
